Dr. John David Scott is a nationally recognized leader in metabolic and bariatric surgery, currently serving as Division Chief for Minimal Access & Bariatric Surgery and Medical Director at Prisma Health Weight Management Institute in Greenville, South Carolina.
As the 2026 Vice-President of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) — the largest bariatric surgery society in the world — Dr. Scott shapes national standards, policy, and training for the field. He is also a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville and an Associate Editor at Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases (SOARD).
His clinical practice and research focus on expanding access to care, optimizing surgical outcomes, and integrating emerging technologies including GLP-1 agents and advanced procedures like SADI-S.
